This depends on individual need but always takes place through joint working. Therapy needs to be fun, motivating and meaningful to all involved. These approaches needed to be embedded into daily, functional, experiences. This is a flavour of what can be offered:

Sensory Regulation and Emotional Wellbeing

Sensory Integration- Learning to regulate your body to be at your optimal function. • Sensory Ladders- Supporting emotional development and sensory regulation. • Developing knowledge of diagnosis- A range of approaches are used to help individuals know their learning profile, the strengths it may give them and the knowledge of how to support themselves best.

Pre-Verbal Skills

Intensive interaction- An approach to teaching the pre-speech fundamentals of communication • Tac Pac- draws together touch and music to create sensory alignment and develop communication skills

Attention and Focus

• Attention Autism- Teaching communication and new skills through engaging, practical and fun activities. • Sensory Stories- Making narrative interactive and exciting. • Active Listening- Developing essential listening and self-help skills.

Play

• P/CCI (Parent/Caregiver Child Interaction) – Play based approach to enhance speech language and communication skills. • Sensory Play- sensory activities to gradually broaden play skills • Relational play- early play activities to link play items together • Identiplay- extending play and narrative skills through a structured, play-based, approach. • Games- to develop turn taking, and following of simple rules, in fun activities • Lego Therapy- using Lego to develop language and social skills.

Understanding

• Total Communication- Using sign/gesture/objects/photos/pictures to support the spoken word. • Word Aware- an approach to enhance vocabulary knowledge • Study Skills for SLCN- functional ways we can aid our own learning styles

Expression

• Colourful Semantics- Colour coded system to support and structure expressive communication. • PODD books- personailsed static books to aid language development. • Caroline Bowen- Researched framework to support speech production skills. • Michael Palin PCI- Caregiver programme to facilitate smooth speech in those who are stammering.

Complex Social Skills

Socially Thinking- developing social communication and higher level thinking. • EveryDay Speech- a digital program designed to accelerate the acquisition and generalization of social, behavioral, and communication skills
